Have my 46 1/2 ton pickup down to the frame. Found a couple of bad bolts holding the transmission cross member in place. This is the cross member just to the rear of the battery box. Decided I would like to take it out and clean it out, as it has a load of dirt and road grime in it. Bolts are out but it wont budge. Don't see any welds holding it in. Possibly a little corrosion, but is it press fit between the frame rails? If I spread the frame slightly, and remove to the rear where the frame widens, does that seem correct? Anybody taken this cross member out and have any tips, its greatly appreciated.
Big ed
