As an indirect answer...
I went to an auto parts store to find a suitable master for my 1940. I looked at master cylinders for corvettes, camaros, and mustangs. The camaro had the smaller reservoir in front...that means the back brakes were in the front, and the front brakes were in the rear. Hope that helps. I call the front, where the master cylinder push rod is.
