A slight clarification on the GMC v Chevy rear suspension.
The GMC trucks, pickup's etc., were considered to be a heavier duty vehicle, therefore they had leaf springs on the rear as standard equipment. Chevy stayed with their coil spring rear suspension through '72, however, Chevy did offer the leaf spring suspension as an option on two wheel drive trucks starting in '71/72, dropping the rear coil springs in '73.
We have a 64 GMC, V6 up on the farm in Montana, it has leaf springs on the rear. Wm.
