I could "Guess " why they asked for ALL of the information. An old truck with NO V.I.N is considered A Crime. (Violation of 10751 (A) CA. Vehicle Code) Misdemeanor. I have seen a 1951 GMC 150 get ordered CRUSHED because the new owner could not prove the truck's identity. No VIN plate ect. CHP also are on very High alert because a large number are actually STOLEN.
Be very careful and have ALL of your ducks in a row.

Side Note those trucks years do not have a Secondary VIN or Partial. (Unlike newer cars & Trucks)
So it's Identity is solely relied on VIN plate and or original engine number (if it was used on title)
