I think a vortec, carb intake would work but you may want to talk to some techs at a GM dealership and find out for sure. You know the ignition is run off of the front of the crankshaft so I'm thinking you'll have to change the oil pump, at least, to run a conventional distributor. Also, the water pump is driven by the camshaft, so drive belts are going to be a problem too,
