| Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,771 | I'm working on an idea to mount a GM Saginaw steering box on top of the frame rail with the Pitman arm hanging down beside the frame and the drag link running parallel to it. There's only one problem with that setup- - - -turn the steering wheel left, and the front wheels go right! The fix is a 1:1 ratio gearbox mounted just above the steering gear input shaft to reverse the direction of the input. I'm about halfway done with fabricating the gearbox. That setup should eliminate the tire-scrubbing problem, and also get rid of the Rube Goldberg bellcrank arrangement! Jerry
