I am building a 1950 on a 2001 S10 frame, when I dismantled my donor I kept all the brake lines master cylinder and brake booster. The guy I was buying from had a smaller booster and brake pedal installed on the truck. Per part number the booster appears to be from a 1993-2002 Camaro\firebird.
Even though this is my first ever build, I do understand that the engineers design all the brake systems taking a variety of things into consideration. I am using the front disk set up and the rear drum set up from the 2001 s10. My question is how interchangeable is this brake booster and master cylinders? Can I use any brake booster that fits with my S10 master cylinder as long as I can get the pedal travel correct? is the proportioning valve the most important piece?
The bolt hole pattern is different so I am trying to use the holes already cut in the firewall, plus I like the idea of the smaller booster. I am not using any of the antilock stuff.
Anyone have experience with this or a resource that might help? Thanks in advance.
