bowtie - as I pointed out, highway speed has nothing to do w/ power and everything to do w/ gearing - my 58 w/ bone stock 2bbl 283 and stock 3spd and 3.90 rear will do 65-70 all day, but the rpms are too high at that speed, which is why I'm gonna put 3.38 gears or the OD 3spd, and then it'll do 75-80 all day at lower rpms, and still spin the tires if I'm foolish enuff to want it to - have you driven your truck? at highway speeds? 283's are quick accelerating and high winding - rebuilding one for higher horsepower isn't 'easy/cheap', but changing the rear gears is
