As long as its a TBI vehicle you get the tank and and pump/sending-unit from you will be okay. Vortec, or most any kind of multi-port EFI is much higher pressure.

A good tank that fits between the frame rails is a 88-95 cab & chassis tank. Its only 10" wide or so and holds 22 gallons. Here's a pic:

If you don't mind a rear-mounted tank, you can also expand your search to include Jeep tanks - most use a similar TBI system. I've used a 33-gallon K5 Blazer tank on my 91 crewcab, and I'll be installing one in my '66 C10 as well.
