Excited to join the forums! I have what I believe to be a 1959 GMC 100 Stepside with the 270 inline six maybe you guys can tell me more about it. I think it might be the rare fleet option can anyone verify?
Here is the back story on the truck
When I first started dating my girlfriend I kept hearing about this "cool old truck" at family gatherings that her dad got from his grandfather, drove it home to Colorado from California 20 years ago and parked it in a field. Her brother in-law and uncles were always talking about it but never did anything about it, even her dad hardly knew anything about it other than his grandfather bought it new in California, it sat in a garage his entire childhood and one day he just got a call saying he could have it but had to come get it ASAP because the house was sold. After 3 years of listening to everyone talk about it like it was some ghost story I decided I had enough and I was going to get it. I called my girlfriends dad told him I was going to get it so I could tinker with it and see what it was all about. When I showed up I was pretty amazed that it was still in good shape and the mice and rats hadn't gotten into it.
Sorry for the long story, anyways yesterday I finally got her running and boy does she purr for not having run in over 20 years, all it took was a new fuel pump and I rebuilt the carb from a kit I found online. I ordered a whole bunch of parts but am having trouble finding a new water pump.
I would love to meet up with some other enthusiasts and learn more about this cool old truck
