My 39 has the gas tank under your butt, er seat. I installed a glass sediment bowl filter that has a built in shut off valve where the shut off valve use to come out of the bottom of the gas tank. I clean it out periodically. The glass bowl stays clean on the fuel pump and so does the carburetor.
