| | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 | Used to always switch to a solid state regulator on both 6v and 12v. No coils/contacts to mess with. They (used?) to make solid state kits to fit into the original housing for the purists. Think most solid state ones run about $20 on ebay. Before internal regulator alternators we used the 64-69 Chrysler one wire in--one wire out regulator on the street rods. Very small and dependable so a mounting place was easy to find.
