Bill, I am replying here so I can attach a photo. The attached picture is of the right (passenger) side. You may need to adjust the latches on the firewall and radiator surround, fore and aft, of the hood opening. These each have two bolts holding them in place with slotted openings to allow adjustment. The only way I know how to do it is by trial and error. You can observe from the other side. Good luck.
Also, the handles are horizontal on closing/latching.
