I'm having trouble adjusting the doors on my 53 one ton.
I've read all the hints and posts I could find, and I'v studied the shop manual, but no help.
My problem is that the doors need to go OUT a bit. everything I've read about talks about moving the door up or down, or tilting it to get the correct gap around the door frame. But I need to go out, away from the center of the cab. I tried moving the hinges, but I can't get any movement in the direction I need.
The door is actually slightly below the surface of the cowl, not sticking out 1/16" the way it should.
Do I need new hinges? Or is there a way to enlarge the holes to be able to slide the hinges out?
If anyone has suggestions let me know. I'm desperate!
I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur (
