To the best of my knowledge there's no real advantage to an electric pump over a mechanical one on a carbureted vehicle. Yeah, if the float bowls drain, you can turn on the pump (and listen to it make noise) while it fills them up....on the other hand, if the bowls are dry and the battery is dead a push start will never get it running. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
I wouldn't install an electric unless I had a specific reason to. But that's just me.
