Yeah, the big bucks issue is probably why it would still be more viable to drop a V8 in the truck rather than to soup up an inline six.
And even a mild V8 could potentially make more power than a built I-6 anyway. Still, if someone wants to keep a stovebolt and have his power too, 300+ hp out of an I-6 is not bad. And you can keep it mostly hidden from view.
