Been a while since I last had a question for the Forum. Didn't drive my 55 - 3200 pickup very much in 2018.
Had some health issues and winter came with a bang so I just parked it in the garage when it started snowing.
When I realized that I forgot to check the anti freeze - I decided to go for a ride and check it when I got home.
The temperature is right around zero and there's lots of snow but the roads are dry and it was a great drive.
Can't wait for Spring!
While driving, I noticed a knocking noise once the oil got warm. When it was cold there wasn't any noise.
The engine runs smooth as silk and idles perfect. No smoke and no noise below 3000 rpm. Power is OK and
I am wondering if maybe the valves are out of adjustment. While I was laid up sick last summer, a friend did an oil change
for me and general "check up". He said he adjusted the valves COLD to .008 / 018. Could that be the reason for the noise?
It's not very loud but it doesn't sound like a rod or main bearing. It sounds like valve train or maybe a piston pin.
Any suggestions?
