Hello, Joe,
What year manual, and what page (I'll look after I post this)?
You can remove the rear wheels, and then open the back of the rear end to allow removal of the axle shafts.
Each seal can then be pulled/pried out.
If there are no seal-wear marks/grooves in/on the axle shafts, you can just replace the seals.
If there are grooves, you can install a "speedi-sleeve"for each side, available on-line and from good parts shops.
Ask here for sources, if needed.
I'd suggest replacing the rear axle bearings during this operation.
My experience has been: after replacing old bearings, the rear end/axles noise is reduced.
