I just re-read this thread. You have new points. New points these days very often have some kind of substance on them which needs to be removed. You can do it with a clean piece of stiff paper or smooth cardboard (not corrugated box material). Just run a small piece back and forth between the points. The points spring will do all of the work for you, just move the paper back and forth. I have had to do this on so many new point sets that I do this every time I change points regardless. Carl
