This past summer my friends (ah) 1963 Ford Unibody truck with a 223 6 cylinder was doing exactly what you describe. I checked timing, carb, points, compression, spark, coil, distributor cap. The condenser was causing the problem. It was popping out the exhaust and the carburetor.
