When I lived in upstate NY, I had no beer cans - I relied on home-made beer.
Also, anti-freeze was necessary - we got below -20 F at least two years I lived there.
No problems with our 4 cats - they were house cats.
Maybe I'll put out a bucket here in NC. I keep this garage no lower than 50 F.
