I know this thread is a bit old but I didnt see a solution. Has anyone tried removing the fastener and shorten the lock pin? The stop is about 1/4 inch thick L-shaped metal. Might be able to cut the lock pin an 1/8 and use 1/8 inch angle iron for a new low profile stop. Perhaps remove the L stop and just thread a nut on a shortened lockpin? ....I think Norcal Dave may have stated this.

Still looking for a solution before I start cutting anything.
