I just looked at my truck and the steering stop is on the back side of the axle, might want to check that out.
Think this is the answer for the caliper hitting the “knob”. Drill a small hole for the location pin on the stop to fit the back ( other ) side of the axle.
PS. It appears over the years some of the axles may have gotten flipped around. Guessing originally steering stops were on the back side??
As far modifications and modern upgrades for 50-70 year old vehicles ............non of these kits or parts are “bolts right in”. In fact that used to be a joke at the swap meets...........does this fit xyz............sure “bolts right in”.
