Small bearing journal camshaft cores like the 216 and early 235 cams are so scarce most cam reginders will only offer to rework a customer's cam if it's not worn too badly. If the crankshafts haven't been ground way undersize already they're also worth saving. The cast iron pistons make good paperweights unless you're doing a period-correct rebuild for some reason. Aluminum replacement pistons are a lot nicer to Babbit rods, as there's not as much inertia trying to pound the bearing material away. The connecting rod conversion I'm working on uses a Perkins diesel engine bearing which costs a fraction of what the regular stovebolt insert bearing conversion does, and allows a "worn out" reground crankshaft to be salvaged.
