SUCCESS!
We got the LUK kit installed today and the tranny finally shifts smoothly. The kit includes all new parts and does not need a core(s) sent in to Rock Auto. Thanks guys for the suggestion to try Rock Auto for the kit.
The initial problem was the rebuilt clutch disc was the wrong part and apparently 8 of the fingers on the clutch plate were bent differently than the rest. The clutch fork ball stud was removed, cleaned and inspected. It showed no signs of scoring or damage otherwise. It was greased and reinstalled.
Now, I can move on to the next task.
