I don't know about your '52 but the fuel pump on my '36 Chevy PU is rebuildable. I found that a '35-'40 Ford diaphragm fits and is more readily available and less expensive than the same part from a Chevy/GMC parts vendor. As Dad points out above the rebuild procedure is simple and disassembling a fuel pump is interesting because it shows what an incredibly simple device a mechanical fuel pump is. It just a diaphragm, a spring, a rocker arm and a couple of check valves facing in opposite directions in a cast housing.
