I was driving the 53 today on a very nice 50 mile stroll in the 93 degree heat. I had to stop for traffic to make a left turn, as soon as I made the turn the engine just turned off. Luckily i was able to coast to a nice shady spot while trying to restart the engine. Checked the engine compartment over for loose wires and found all was in order. Checked the coil wire and the coil was a little warm (hot), thought maybe it had given up the ghost. Then I spied it, the distributor cap was sitting at an angle. The distributor cap had popped off, and the rotor had popped up. Of course by that time i have it flooded, so it took a bit to start it. But got home without a tow!! I was noticing that the bails were a little weak, guess I will have to do some work on them. That was definitely a first for me.
