No....not from my "big old wife", but the impeller from the output shaft.
I picked up this Dayton-Teel centrifugal pump for next to nothing at a
garage sale. Talked to one of our Stovebolt buddies, "Welder Dave", who
worked at a Grainger outlet back in the day and he said they sold a ton
of these little units. This one looked like it had never been used. I suspect
that the owner bought it as a backup in case his basement flooded.
I flushed the fuel tank, checked the oil (clean like new) and put some fresh
petrol in and it fired right up on the first pull. It ran fine for about 1 minute
then just stopped dead and won't turn over.
So I figured the pump froze up on me but......now that the pump is off I find
it's the engine that's locked up. Next step is to pull the side cover and see why
the crank/rod or piston locked up on me.
However....I can't get the side cover off till I get the impeller off the output shaft.
And it won't budge and there are no outward signs of a bolt or key of any sort.
I don't want to force anything because there are no longer any parts for this.
Besides....a $10 garage sale 2hp B&S Teel pump isn't worth putting a lot of
money into replacing a hard to find if not impossible probably expensive part.
So I'm throwing this out in the hopes that there may be one of you
farmers/contractor/small engine repair guy or just a back yard mechanics who
may have a clue as to how these come apart. HELP a'fore I ruin a nice little
pump and motor.
