Dont be bummed, I started from scratch on my brakes....having zero experience. I learned a lot, built confidence in my ability to service them if needed, and everytime an old guy pumps my brakes they say "wow! The brakes are good in this one"
You would do yourself a great service to pull EVERYTHING and replace with new. You will be happier in the long run.
