I can only offer up my own experience. My 3.90 rear end - .72 fifth gear T5 and 28" tires allows me to cruise at 70+mph for 3 to 4 hours without issue. I have to mention that my 216 was rebuilt back in 1974 and may have been machined for insert bearings at the time and that may play into the longevity of the engine.
