This may not be any help, but I saw a 55 Chevy Nomad with a 235 and air conditioning. This was some years ago at a cruise. The rotary compressor was mounted high on the engine above the generator. I think it had an under dash unit, so was probably dealer or aftermarket installed. Don't know about power consumption.
