It's pretty simple. You can install a donor vintage under dash unit or aftermarket kits. Al the components are the same. Compressor, clutch, evaporator, blower, condenser, accumulator. Buy the kit or buy the pieces. Sanden compressors are the most popular. It's all about budget and if you want to do all the work to assemble the parts, have the hoses made and have it evacuated and filled. It is a DIY friendly install. Not high tech.
Mount everything and hose it up.
As far as motor size. A/C will always take power away, but many vehicles with small motors have A/C. A 235 is not that small. It DOES have a tendency to cause overheating in a hot state like mine. Some folks have to upgrade to bigger radiator/better cooling system. Especially for stop and go driving.
