Sounds like an involved project. Would a newer 4wd frame be easier -- I know that presents new problems --sheet metal, cab mounts, steering. Or can you front half the frame? A 10 bolt 4wd ton - cab and chassis-- may be a candidate. I used a 14 bolt srw --then dualed it--- after moving the perches on the axle for a 46 3/4 ton.

I do like 4wds -- I have 3 ---soon to have 4 on a 59 GMC 1/2 ton but to my luck square body front axles (44's or 10 bolt) have a matched front spring perch width.
