With 2.41 gears you don't need an overdrive. But the 87-93 700r4 is the best to start with. It has a few improvements. Always use a new hardened sunshell. The original ones crack and fail. Always! Use red clutches in the 3-4 clutck pack. There is no Corvette OD Clutch drum trick. The 3-4 clutches are shared. The trick is the corvette servo. This increases line pressures on the 2 through 4 shifts. But now there are better options from a variety of vendors. Personally on a street rig with under 300 hp don't go crazy. Red clutches. Aftermarket servo. And hardened sunshell. And a converter that works with your cam. If you have it built all the builders are aware of how to make one work.
