62 Stick, is that oil pump from China? It's been about 12 years since I've been into a sbc rebuild so I don't remember the exact set of parts that drives the oil pump and distributor. But it's possible that the the same condition that is holding the distributor up off the intake manifold is also causing a misalignment between the gear on the camshaft and the driven gear.
