The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Buffing clear coat

Let me start out by saying, I am NOT a painter. When I sprayed them I got little specks or bumps in the clear coat. Other places has overspray, so I need to "knock" those off for the mirror finish I want. I redid these parts because they are woodgrained and after 68 years of sun and cleaning the woodgrain was about gone. I know that the orginial finish was not hi-gloss but with $800.00 just rebuilding the orginial gauges I decided this part of the rebuild was going to make you "stop and stare". BTW Bent, I started building choppers when I was a kid just back from a war in 1971. I've had six hogs and never paid more than $100.00 for any of them. So, plese tell me if I hand sand them...what grits, what compounds and such. I will be leaving at "o-dark-thirty" in the morning in a '39 Chevy sedan custom. Wish me luck and see you there.
