About a 1960 261 engine according to the cast numbers. The carb has me a bit baffled. Carter carb 1.75 interior measurement across bottom opening . Should be a 261 carb at that measurement. The vacuum hole on the base of the carb looks to be in the correct area for a 235 and centered on the wall of the carb at about the 10 o’clock position. Also below the base of the carb was a steel plate in the shape of the base gasket only squared off on one corner. 1/8 “ thick. No hole for the vacuum hole on the carb base on this plate. Base gasket was a 261 gasket. The one with the four notches. The notches on the gasket doesn’t line up with the vacuum hole on the base of the carb. What do I have here? Should not the gasket at least allow for the vacuum hole ? Thanks
