I think climate has a lot to do with it and time stored. My dad had continuous trouble in his boat. He had a bad habit of adding alky fuel(cheaper) topping off the tanks without running it through. Eventually all three tanks had its fuel separate and had to be drained and discarded. I had to jet up the old rochester's main metering because of the 10% alky though. That is the only drawback. I like to run midgrade in the stihl products and the riding lawn mower or anything stored in the shed in this wet climate( rains constant from Nov. to April.
