For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 123 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 123 | Working on a 1950 3600 steering box leaking etc so I bought a rebuild kit from Classic Parts #76-911 in it came 2 bearings 2 bushings 2 gaskets 1 packing the instruction guide they send is for the forward control cabs and school buses good thing I had the shop manual.
so the parts all match up but there is no sector shaft packing retainer to hold that rubber packing on the sector shaft in place. In the diagrams it shows the retainer; is it needed??? Classic parts tech support says no. I hope someone can shed some light for me and "steer" me in the right direction. I'm at a loss.
