yes, the 4.10 ratio is great for an original 1 ton, I have that in my 51 GMC with original 228.
Though I haven't tried it my opinion is the 3.73 ratio might be OK in flat country and or if you don't haul anything much.
Otherwise the 4.10 is pretty good all around, no to fast, not to slow, and considering the low engine HP and only just adequate brakes staying a little slow is a good thing.
