Mike, I just went out to the garage and checked mine (1948 3100, but actually has a 1950 cab). What you described above. is exactly how my OE lock works, also. I would add though that rotating the key to 9:00 locks the door; rotating the key to 3:00 unlocks the door. The cylinder/key is always at 12:00 to insert or remove the key. Good luck. Dave
