Not a pro welder, but have done a bit over the years. Took a good welding class back in 1969, taught by a guy who was selected to weld together the Picasso sculpture in Chicago! I was good with stick, loved TIG (which was sort of new back then), MIG was OK. I currently have an old Lincoln Big Red Box stick welder, and a 220 volt spot welder. Borrowed a friends MIG machine for a while, and it worked ok, but I have found that I can weld anything I need with the stick welder, as long as I use the right amp setting and the right stick. Just welded together a cast iron intake manifold for my tractor. As everyone else says, practice on scrap, use tacking welds on sheet metal, and you can do anything!

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again.
