on my 1st truck I started butt welding, but it seemed more trouble thanit is worth on floor patches-then I started lap welding & life was much easier. much easier to weld & less warpage. yes, a lap weld can rust between the laps, but I won't be around by the time it causes trouble. If you look around, the whole truck is comprised of lap welds. brian
