Well I just picked up a 1949 3800 that I love. Not something I was looking for but something I am super excited about - it is a very worn driver with great patina (read - needs lots of TLC but it runs). My plans are to just sort it to over time and enjoy it for what it is. No restoration plans.
My first project is to install the back glass this weekend - I read the shop manual and have done some reading online. I got a seal kit from Jim Carter. The one thing I am a little confused on is - the seal I got is not a closed loop. Where around the window is it best to butt the ends of the loop together? Should they be sealed in some way? The article in the tech tips mentions 3m mastic. The bead is the same - does it matter where the ends butt together?
