I do not know if this is answer for your question, but the 1954 3100 fuel tank "drain", fuel-pickup-tube, and sender changed in design compared to 1953 and earlier trucks. In 1954, the fuel tube and sender (except for 3600) were on a single unit that was installed on the middle top of the tank.
