You'll need to find either the 1966 V8 bellhousing that uses the 3 bolt starter that mounts to the bellhousing, or you'll need to drill and tap the 283 block for the block-mounted starter. That's a VERY difficult procedure, as there's virtually no room for error in the placement of the bolt holes. I wouldn't attempt it without having the bare block set up on the base of a big, heavy drill press.
