I have a salesman book to go with my '42 American Chevy pick up and there is no such oil can listed. That doesn't mean that it is not a correct factory item with a right hand drive export truck. I suspect, however, that your oil can is aftermarket or from some other vehicle.

I have seen oil cans on the firewall of cars from the late teens and early 1920s when there is no automatic lubrication of the rocker arms. The driver is required to stop and oil the rockers every 100 miles or so. Thus, a convenient oil can is mounted nearby.
