I just recently asked the same or very similar question. I too am at this same stage with my '46 half ton. It seems even if the clutch is adjusted correctly at this stage, a long shot apparently, it may not be correct to allow for toe board clearances whenever the cab is installed. I have, for now, adjusted the clutch to where I can see, with the inspection cover removed, the spring diaphragm engaged by the bearing and slightly move the "fingers" forward. The plan is to do a final adjustment later.
If I have misunderstood the process etc., I am certain someone will offer correction.
