If yes & yes, there are three places to leak; one is at the ball retainer flange which has a set of flat gaskets that are used as shims to snug up and seal the ball joint to the trans; second is rear of the retainer flange has a thick cork gasket that seals the rear of the flange to the ball housing; third is the rubber ring that seals the slip joint between the ball housing and torque tube (slip joint).
None of these seals and gaskets are "split". You have to take the joint apart to replace and set shim pack (gasket pack). You REALLY have to take the joint apart to check the snugness of the ball joint with the right number of flat gaskets - see routine in service manual....you do have a manual right?
