The way Jerry describes the set up in his first sentence is the way the Patrick's kit is designed. Pretty slick.
On mine, the compressor is fixed and the single belt is tensioned using the alternator mounting bolt as a pivot. If I did it over again, I would still keep the alternator on the bottom and the compressor on the top, but I would probably use Jerry's suggested approach for two belts utilizing the double pulley on the compressor instead of one long belt.
Personal preference on mounting the compressor low and the alternator high, but I did it this way to make it easier to get to the compressor and the fittings if required.
